Statement of purpose

To provide professional development opportunities through lively dialog and thought-provoking presentations at bimonthly meetings, group commentary and problem-solving for member-submitted work-in-progress queries, encourage resource sharing and distribute through monthly mailings linguistic gems and oddities harvested from solicited member submissions and available sources within the editor’s survey reach.

Membership requirements

SpanSIG members must be members of the Austin Area Translators and Interpreters Association (AATIA), and be engaged in, or interested in Spanish-to-English and/or English-to-Spanish translation.

Bimonthly meetings

SpanSIG offers four meetings a year to provide and encourage open dialog on terminology and related subjects. We meet at 10:15 a.m. at the Austin History Center.

SpanSIG members and friends participate in a Yahoo Group offering suggestions for troublesome terms that colleagues post. Contact the Coordinators for information on subscribing to this free service.
