Spanish Special Interest Group (SpanSIG)

Coordinators: Sara A. Naus & Patricia González

Statement of purpose

Expose members to professional development opportunities through the encouragement of participation in lively dialog and thought-provoking presentations and provide feedback on submitted work-in-progress through the utilization of the wealth of resources found within the community.

Membership requirements

SpanSIG members must be members of the Austin Area Translators and Interpreters Association (AATIA), and be engaged in or interested in Spanish-to-English and/or English-to-Spanish translation.

Quarterly meetings

SpanSIG offers several meetings a year to provide and encourage open dialog on terminology and related subjects.

SpanSIG members and friends participate in a Yahoo Group to offer suggestions for troublesome terms that colleagues post. Contact the Coordinators for information on subscribing to this free service.

Member participation and involvement

As members of the Spanish Special Interest Group we would like to promote participation and involvement of our members. If you have an item of interest, would like to introduce a subject for discussion, or have in mind a possible guest speaker, please share your ideas and submit your suggestions to the Coordinator(s).

AATIA is one of the nation’s leading resources and advocates for the translation and interpretation community. Our mission: to serve AATIA members through education, networking, and promotion of translation and interpretation professions.
