SpanSIG Meeting – March 13

Join SpanSIG for its first meeting of the year. The topic will be film translation from Spanish to English and we will have the opportunity to offer our professional critique.

As always, we invite you to spend a couple of hours with your SpanSIG colleagues and enjoy a light breakfast.

At the conclusion of the meeting, we will raffle a couple of books that you might find interesting.

We’ll see you from 10:00 to 12:00 at the International Center of Austin. See sidebar at right for directions and parking instructions.

March 13 Membership Meeting

The expertise of Conference Interpreters is very much needed in today's global economy. Come and listen to two of our distinguished members — Maurine McLean and Tony Beckwith — share their experiences as well as tips on how to polish up your interpreting skills.

Join us at our ICA location on 2nd Street between Brazos and San Jacinto on Saturday, March 13th from 1 to 4 p.m. Find directions and parking information in the sidebar on this page.

Language is more than just a means of communication. It influences our culture and thought processes.

One important component of language is learning. As language evolves, translators need to explore new ways of preserving and maintaining their present skills,  as well as engage in active learning to satisfy the demands of an increasingly diverse society.

AATIA’s Spanish Special Interest Group would like to invite you to join us this Saturday, April 25 from 10:00 to 12:00 a.m. at HQ (201 E. 2nd St.)

Our guest speaker is Rachel Elizabeth Showstack. She will be presenting the topic "Legitimizing Texas Spanish: The Need for a Corpus."

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!

Sara Alvarado and Patricia González

Note:

AATIA Members are welcome to use the parking tower behind the ICA office for free. The entrance in on Brazos Street. Please tell the attendant you are coming to our SpanSig meeting and sign the list.
